Position to be filled: Peer Leader (10)
ALTERNATIVES-Cameroon is the Association for Freedom, Tolerance, Expression and Respect for People of Indigent Nature or Victims of Social Exclusion. The Association promotes the defense of human rights, is non-profit, governed by Law No. 90/053 . It has been legally recognized since October 27, 2006 by the Prefecture of Wouri (Declaration n°204/RDDA/C19/BAPP) . Since 2008 we have opened a center called “ Access Medical Center ” in order to advocate accessibility to HIV information, prevention and treatment of this infection.
In order to carry out its mission within the framework of the CHILL project with its partners , ALTERNATIVES-Cameroon is recruiting 10 motivated Peer Leaders . The position is open to internal and external applications to ALTERNATIVES-Cameroon .
JOB MISSIONS :
• Ensure awareness of the target population in the field and referral to the Drop-In-Center (DIC)
Under the supervision of the Community Mobilization Officer (CMC) , the peer leader will perform the following tasks:
Identify, sensitize and mobilize the beneficiaries of the DIC
Identify hotspots in the field and/or through social media
Update the mapping of hot spots in the intervention area
List all the violence suffered by the beneficiaries and offer a front-line response, while documenting this violence on sheets designed for this purpose
Conduct awareness-raising activities with beneficiaries
Distribute prevention education material during prevention actions in meeting places
Facilitate educational talks on HIV and other related pathologies in grain in pairs with a person in charge
Ensure hotlines at the DIC
Systematically record data in the digital platform and
collection tools
Refer at least 07 new people per month
Screening at the DIC and in the community
Liaise with the DIC, as key points of contact and sources of information regarding association services.
Training/Diplomas : Have a BEPC
Professional skills and knowledge
– Excellent interpersonal communication skills
– Be in accordance with the statutes and internal regulations of Alternatives Cameroon
– Speak and write fluently either French and/or English
– Be in non-judgment and confidentiality
– Have a very good knowledge of the hot spots of the intervention area
– Knowledge in community projects (NGOs/OBCs/OBFs)
– The incumbent of this position must be able to work independently and outside normal working hours to meet the association’s quality and deadline requirements.
Duration of the contract : 12 months including the trial period
Salary intention : According to salary grid
Job location : Douala
Composition of the file:
– Motivation letter addressed to the Executive Director of ALTERNATIVES Cameroon
– A detailed CV
– A copy of the National Identity Card
– A copy of the highest diploma
– A copy of the certificates of services previously held in a similar position if possible
