Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 4 million patients, and today deploys its operations in II African countries. In 2018, we developed 41 humanitarian medical response projects to meet the needs of populations affected by conflicts, epidemics and extreme poverty. All of these projects are carried out in support of the national health authorities through nearly 33() health structures (including 28 hospitals and 3()() health centres). We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure that our patients benefit from the expertise where it is, whether in their country or the rest of the world. In addition, to improve the humanitarian response,
ALIMA promotes and defends the principles of fundamental human rights. ALIMA has a zero tolerance approach towards people guilty of acts of sexist and sexual violence as well as towards inaction in the face of alleged or proven acts of violence. The protection of those benefiting from and impacted by our intervention is our top priority in everything we do. Anyone collaborating with ALIMA undertakes to:

THE ALIMA TEAM: More than 2000 people currently work for ALIMA. Position Title ; MENTAL HEALTH AND PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT SUPERVISOR

REASON FOR THE POST
The mental health and psychosocial support agent will have to implement and monitor individual and community psychosocial activities on the Makary project of the NGO
ALIMA in the health districts of Makary, Mada and Fotokol
FUNCTIONAL LINKS AND HIERARCHICS
He reports to the Referent Doctor (MEDREF) and to the mental health manager of the Cameroon mission.
He supervises: nurses, nutritional assistants, community workers, midwives He
collaborates with: supervisors, attending physicians, center managers
MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES
A. Improve the mental and psychosocial health of people in distress through appropriate and effective psychosocial care
Conduct individual interviews and discussion groups for people in psychological distress;
Facilitate family mediations according to the need and expressed needs;
In collaboration with the person in charge of the SMSPS of ALIMA, organize recreational activities and emotional discharge for the team of caregivers;
Organize rounds of services in supported health structures for the assessment and psychosocial and mental health care of hospitalized patients;
Prescribe or be able to identify and refer situations requiring psychiatric medication in extreme cases in certain people;
Follow the mental health and psychosocial referrals made by other project colleagues, healthcare providers or community relays;
Evaluate traditional resilience practices used as means of preventing psychosocial problems in the community;
Develop a psychosocial intervention plan for monitoring the beneficiaries of psychosocial and community activities;
Propose appropriate and adapted activities in relation to the needs identified during the realization of the various psychosocial activities;
Monitor the activities of community relays in the field.
B. Hospitalization
Ensures the daily visit in the service and ensures the counter visit;
Examines all hospitalized patients in connection with a psychological or psychiatric pathology;
Indicates and prescribes care and treatment to the team, respecting therapeutic protocols in order to rationalize the use of drugs; Informs the patient of his disease, explains the treatment;
Keeps the hospitalization records up to date by accurately notifying the examinations, admission and discharge diagnoses and treatments and ensures that the prescription is applied;
Decide on the discharge of the patient according to his state of health. which must meet pre-established criteria;
Works in collaboration with the various doctors and supervises transfers to other services if necessary; Ensures the supervision and continuous training of the medical/paramedical team in order to optimize the quality of care; Manages psychiatric emergencies.
C. Builds the capacity of care providers and community-based health workers in terms of mental health and psychosocial support
In collaboration with the mental health manager, ensure the capacity of providers on the notions of MHPSS and especially in identifying problems mental health and psychological first aid;
Provide training for community relays on the general notions of SMSPS as well as V SBG, as well as supervise them in carrying out their activities; Provide training in stress management and self-care for community workers.
D. Support the implementation of awareness-raising and social mobilization actions for the development of a culture of mental health
Participate and support the organization of awareness-raising activities (in MHPSS and VSBG) through community-based health workers (community relays), local partners, leaders, district chiefs and village chiefs;
Support the strengthening of existing community mechanisms (women’s groups, solidarity groups, religious leaders, neighborhood leaders) to offer community psychosocial care (individual and collective) to victims of GBV, in conjunction with the agents responsible for community mobilization;
Identify and develop SMSPS, NSBG messages to be delivered to communities in collaboration with other colleges and partners and health authorities;
Participate in the development of awareness raising / Information Education and Communication (IEC) tools according to identified needs, in collaboration with all the components concerned and contextualize / translate these so-called community tools into local languages;
Sensitize all other colleagues and stakeholders in the project on mental health psychosocial support, as well as SGBV.
E. Reporting / information sharing
Share the various problems encountered on the structures or sites supported and partners with its managers on a daily basis
Use the monitoring tools and compile the analyzes in a weekly report
Participate in the various internal meetings of the Alima project
In collaboration with the project team, collect SMSP and V SBG data and share them, while ensuring their confidentiality
Write the reports of activities carried out and share them
Be required to write the minutes of certain meetings internally
Participate, at the request of his line manager, in external meetings related to the SMSPS, VSBG and or community health in the project area, Ensure external communication, with other partners, at the request of his line manager.

F. Support for the overall operation and proper implementation of the SMSPS and VSBG program
Participate in the identification of national and international actors likely to collaborate for a complete, quality service for people in psychological distress and especially for holistic burden of SGBV survivors (mapping);
Participate in the assessment of the psychosocial needs of the communities in the field of intervention and in the reflections on the development of a strategy for the sustainability of SMSPS activities;
Carry out any other activity requested by the managers within the framework of the program activities.
G. Professional Experience:
Diplomas in human sciences (mental health/psychoIogy/socioIogy/anthropoIogy health attaché)
At least 2 years of experience in a post of psychosocial agent or counselor, mental health attaché or similar
Have a experience in the implementation of psychosocial activities
Have experience in the
Have knowledge related to child development, protection, SGBV, inclusion and social cohesion
Have good experience in community-based health and communication techniques for behavior change
Have experience in capacity building for groups and communities Have experience in working with medical, psychiatric and psycho-social teams
