Type of contract: CDD

Duration of contract: 6 months 

Availability: Immediate

 

Missions and Responsibilities

General Objective

The field monitor is responsible for contributing to the proper implementation of asset creation activities with beneficiary communities under the supervision of supervisors.

 

Responsibilities

 

1. Community Mobilization

- Ensures a good understanding of the various activities of INTERSOS and establishes good relations with the beneficiaries and the various committees set up;

- Ensures the smooth running of the briefing of community volunteers and supervises their work;

- Explains to the community their role and participation in the project implementation strategy, their responsibility and respect for humanitarian principles;

- Relays questions and concerns raised by community stakeholders.


2. Supervision and follow-up

 

In conjunction with the Activity Supervisor, the Field Monitor will:

- Participate in the establishment of the activity monitoring committee, the management committee of complaints to the activities of the FFA within its district of assignment;

- Ensure with the supervision of the supervisor that the selection of beneficiaries is made in a transparent manner and according to strict compliance with the selection criteria defined by the donor;

- Facilitate the preparation of supporting documents for expenses in the field in conjunction with his supervisor;

- Receive equipment dedicated to asset creation activities in its assigned area;

- Ensure the follow-up of incidents and security problems reported in the intervention area;

- Participate in the production of a weekly plan of activities to be carried out and ensure follow-up; 

- Ensure, with the contribution of the management committees, responsible use of the infrastructures/structures present in its service district;

- Fill in the weekly monitoring sheet for the level of progress of the work and send it to his supervisor;

- Organize all activities related to the distribution of food or cash;

- Contribute to the implementation of the VSLA Mechanism (Village Savings and Credit Association) with beneficiaries;

- Sensitize beneficiaries on good food and nutritional practices;

- Report to his superior all problems encountered in the field such as complaints from participants, interference from local authorities and threats and/or security problems, etc.;


3. Data Management

 

- Under the supervision of the MEAL Officer, assists in data collection, investigations and report writing;

- Ensures the quality of the data collected and ensures that it is submitted in due time to the MEAL officer;

- Ensures that forms, lists and other paper evidence are properly completed, signed and archived, both physically and digitally.

 

 

4. Reporting 

 - Prepares and submits distribution reports, minutes of meetings, daily and weekly reports to the activity supervisor on time;

- Provides information on activities as requested by the project manager or M&E team; - Help to obtain good practices from beneficiaries;

- Collect quality images of the various activities and ensure that they are properly saved;

- Verifies the consistency and quality of the information provided by the team of

community mobilizers, ensures that it is compiled and has it validated by the supervisors.

  

5. Accountability  

 

- In collaboration with the accountability focal point, ensures that all accountability tools are implemented at all stages of the project and ensure their optimal functioning;

- Ensures through the keeping of a register, communication on the toll-free number or the complaint boxes, that the suggestions and opinions of the beneficiaries on the holding of activities are taken into account;

- Actively reports cases of fraud or abuse, including SEA cases observed by teams or partners, in liaison with the PSEA focal point.

 

 

Job Requirements

Education Graduate Technician in Agriculture and Rural Development or any related discipline 

Experience ▪ Minimum of one year of experience in a humanitarian context, in an association, NGO or INGO, with at least 6 months of field work experience in the Far North region in a context of crisis.

▪ Proven professional experience in asset creation, holding and monitoring resilience activities in a similar context would be an asset.

▪ Work experience and/or collaboration on a WFP project would be an asset.

 

Language

          ▪ Proficiency in formal written and oral French

▪ Strong writing skills

▪ Proficiency in a local vehicular language required (Fufuldé, Mafa, Mandara or Choa Arabic), proficiency in several would be an asset

o Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), 

o Common web browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox)
