Call for Applications: Recruitment of Economist Coordinator & Legal Research Officer
As part of the operationalization of the activities of the Observatory of Competitiveness and Competition of GICAM (OCC-GICAM), the International Labor Office is recruiting two professionals: An Economist Coordinator & a Legal Studies Officer.
ECONOMIST COORDINATOR
ASSIGNMENTS
Design and implement monitoring, awareness and advocacy activities for the reduction of distortions of competition that hinder the competitiveness of companies and reduce the attractiveness of the national economic space by promoting the implementation within GICAM a framework conducive to the establishment of a climate of healthy competition with the participation of all stakeholders. Specifically:
Ensure economic intelligence on competition issues related to the competitiveness of companies in Cameroon;
Collect, collect and deal with the concerns of Companies relating to distortions of competition and competitiveness;
Carry out studies, surveys and other investigative missions on the practices, regulatory provisions and other actions of public administrations or companies leading to distortions of competition between companies
Design indices to measure the quality of competition in the various sectors and sectors of the national economy;
Design and organize training-awareness activities to support companies suffering from distortions of competition;
Assess the economic and social repercussions of distortions of competition;
Feed the various pleas of GICAM on issues relating to competition and competitiveness;
Develop relations and liaise with institutions, bodies and committees dealing with competition issues at the national, sub-regional and international level.
Produce the annual report on the state of competition in Cameroon.
PROFILE :
Level of studies BACC+5 minimum in economics, business management and other related fields;
Professional experience of at least five years;
Experience in economic analysis, conducting statistical operations, organizing and leading meetings with companies, interface with administrations and public-private dialogue;
Mastery of the structuring of the national economy, of the institutional architecture in connection with the regulation of the markets, of the entrepreneurial environment and of the business environment;
Knowledge of economic modeling and impact assessment methods would be an asset;
Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills;
Good organizational ability and ability to work under pressure with results.
LEGAL AND TAX STUDIES
ASSIGNMENT
Under the responsibility of the Coordinator of the Observatory, the Responsible for Legal and Tax Studies is responsible for ensuring legal and regulatory monitoring of issues relating to the quality of competition and issues of competitiveness of companies. Specifically:
Constitute the database of regulatory texts governing the activities of the different sectors / sectors of activity;
Analyze the various regulations and agreements under the prism of reducing distortions of competition and improving the competitiveness of businesses in Cameroon;
Contribute to the collection, analysis of information and drafting of notes / reports of the Observatory;
Provide advice and legal and tax assistance to companies that are victims of competition distortions;
Contribute to the organization of other training-awareness activities for Companies.
PROFILE :
Level of studies BACC + 4minimum in law, legal and tax studies and other related fields;
Professional experience of at least five years;
Good knowledge of business law, competition law, intellectual property law;
Mastery of the national regulatory and institutional environment;
Mastery of the international trade environment, Establishment Agreements, etc. ;

DURATION OF THE MISSION: One (1) year renewable.
LOCATION OF THE POST : The workstations are based in Douala with the possibility of travel to other regions.
