Introduction
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent humanitarian organization working on all aspects of the refugee cause in around 30 countries around the world. It is the first Danish NGO operating internationally for the protection of refugees and internally displaced persons against persecution and for the promotion of durable solutions to the problems of forced immigration and conflicts. All of DRC's action is based on humanitarian principles and human rights, in accordance with United Nations conventions and the code of conduct of the ICRC and NGOs during disaster relief operations. The protection and assistance approach to conflict-affected populations is provided in a long-term and rights-based approach to ensure a coherent and effective response to the challenges of today's conflicts. The assistance consists of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation, support for returnees and repatriates as well as the promotion of long-term solutions to displacement and its causes. In addition, supporting and building the capacity of local and national authorities is an integral part of DRC's work.
DRC is present in seven West African countries, namely Mali, Guinea Conakry, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger, Central African Republic, and Cameroon.
Currently, DRC's actions in the Adamaoua region are concentrated around the town of Meiganga and a sub-base was opened in Djohong in 2018. There are plans to open a new sub-base in the Adamaoua region. Is in Garoua Boulai during the fall of 2020.
General objective of the position
Under the direct supervision of the Program Team Leader, the protection assistant is responsible for the direct implementation of the project and the monitoring of this one.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure the implementation of the project in accordance with the plans established by the protection teams;
• Identify cases of adult protection and vulnerabilities, ensure their support via the monitoring APIs, report or refer these cases if necessary;
• Identify child protection cases, provide support via APIs, individualized management, monitor action plans, update files and close after support.
• Facilitate the animation of the child protection case management panel with other protection actors in the area,
• Update the database of child protection cases, collect and transmit all information necessary for monitoring the project to the protection supervisor;
• Implement all program activities with a focus on protection activities
• Facilitate, with the support of supervisors, the establishment of a map of face protection actors in order to strengthen the referral circuit for protection cases
• Prepare and implement all activities relating to information beneficiaries and stakeholders;
• Contribute to the implementation of training for local protection committees on child protection/protection and any other relevant local actor necessary within the framework of the project;
• Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the project and its implementation by providing reliable data;
• Write or contribute to the writing of reports requested by the super iser;
• Any other relevant task assigned by the supervisor.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
1- Qualifications
• Bac +2 in social sciences / humanities / law or in a rock field;
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, O tlook software;
• Ability to work in an intercultural environment and to demonstrate flexibility;
• Ability to work under pressure,
• Ability to work with methodology and rigor
• Team spirit and ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with project beneficiaries, partners and work colleagues,
• Knowledge of the area of intervention.
• Driving license (A) would be an asset;
• Proficiency in one of the local languages.
2- Experiences:
• Work experience in an international NGO, preferably humanitarian;
• Experience of at least one year working in child protection/protection programs
• Experience in the management of cases of children or adults
3- Personal qualities
• Availability;
• Great ability to organize and be precise;
• Able to work independently and take initiative;
• Strong resistance to stress;
• Honesty;
• Integrity.
PRACTICAL DETAILS
LEVEL: The Program/Protection Assistant position is classified as NM.I in the DRC job grid.
CONTRACT LENGTH :until August 31, 2023, with a trial period of two (02) months.
