The Medical Team Leader’s prime responsibilities will be to manage the day-to-day running of
activities of the WHO project financed by the Peace Building Fund (PBF) which targets
Peacebuilding and violence reduction in communities in the Far North Region, through
inclusive health and social interventions. 
Through this project, international medical Corps will
improve the capacity of health care facilities through training, provision of medical equipment and
supplies as well as staffing arrangements. Offer free access to quality healthcare to the population
through trained and motivated staff with appropriate equipment and finally reduce morbidity and
mortality to common diseases.


DUTIES & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Program Management


Work closely with the Far North Field Coordinator, senior management and field teams to
determine the operational needs of the medical and nutrition program within the scope of the
grant
Work closely with the program teams and regional delegation of public health to organize
and conduct the training for healthcare staff and ensure that all trainings completed are
appropriately applied;
Ensure the clinical quality in the implementation of activities and services to service
providers in line with International Medical Corps’ ethos and values as well as MoH
protocols
Liaise with to the field Coordinator to provide support and to ensure consistency of
approach and delivery across the project sites
Work with the program team and M and E teams to design and implement a reporting
system to monitor and evaluate the objectives, indicators and outcomes of the WHO/PBF
project as well as trends in mortality and morbidity
Support the district in the supervision of trained health facility staff
Work with program coordinator, field Coordinator and program teams to plan for future
program directions in terms of beneficiary needs, new sites, and activities
Work with field teams and logistics to procure program supplies in a timely manner to
ensure adequate supply based on site consumption while adhering to national drug protocols
and program budgets
Support health facilities to analyze pharmacy reports to monitor drug consumption per site
Regularly update the field coordinator, program director and program teams on progression
of project deliverables and indicator progress according to targets
Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed

 

2. Representation


Attend health coordination meetings, as well as other program coordination meetings such
as program management (PMT) meetings and pipeline meetings which are relevant to the
program monitoring
Represent the organization at task force meetings, assessment missions, regional
coordination meetings, WHO coordination meetings, INGO field coordination meetings
Serve as a liaison with the Health District Office on matters related to the project to ensure
programmatic accountability
Ensure maximum visibility of the WHO amongst the humanitarian community
Lead the production of reports at site and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of information
provided, as well ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization,
notably through the application of the organizations Code of Conduct, ethics, values and
stand-point with regard to internal and external actors


3. Human Resources Management


Assist in the selection and training of volunteer health staff, in coordination with the district
health services;
Supervise the day-to-day health staff to ensure smooth and effective project implementation


4. Security


Ensures application and compliance of security protocols and policies
5. Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within
International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical
Corps


Qualifications:


Medical degree; preferably with a Master’s in Public Health.
Minimum of three years of experience required in emergency health programs
Previous NGO experience
Must have excellent communications skills, both oral and written
Must have excellent self-motivation skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
Proven capabilities in leadership required
Strong negotiation, interpersonal and organization skills
Ability to speak both French and English
Updated registration license from MOH to practice medicine in Cameroon
Be of Cameroonian nationality.

employees who in good faith raise questions or concerns.
