Tasks and responsibilities:
- Reception and referral of clients,
- Administer the targeted screening tool to identify clients eligible for
HIV testing at the point of entry;
- Confirm the identity of the client by filling out the test request form / Result
- Perform the screening test according to the national algorithm;
- Ensure that the results of all tested clients are available;
- Introduce the index case test during the pre-test council to obtain information on
sexual contact;
- Perform notification and testing of partners;
- Provide post-test advice;
- Provide pre-treatment education to all HIV-positive clients and HIV
prevention services to HIV-negative clients;
- Actively connect all newly identified HIV-positive clients to a one-stop-shop psychosocial nurse
for ART initiation;
- Follow clients for adverse effects of ICT within 30 days of
reporting sexual contact;
- Follow all new HIV-positive clients enrolled in ART for up to six months of ART;
- In collaboration with the OSS Psychosocial Nurse, provide
treatment and viral load education to new clients during the first six months of
ART;
- Ensure that all clients in their cohort are tested for viral load after
six months of ART;
- Ensure a smooth transition of the clients of their cohort to the PSW-OSSinfirmière psychosocial pair from 4-6 months of ART;
- Remind customers of their appointments two days before they;
- Conduct at least one telephone conversation with each client between two physical visits
to the clinic;
- Assist the PSW of detention in the search for bad payers / LTFU during the
first six months of the TARV;
- Ensure the availability and proper management of HIV products (
HIV testing kits and consumables) made available to them;
- Ensure the proper management of waste on their workstation;
- Ensure the proper handling of the registers made available to them;
- Make a daily, weekly and monthly summary of the screening and report it to
the screening and link supervisor (field supervisor or regional technical
coordinator);
Professional Qualifications/Requirements:
- Holder of a degree in nursing (BSc or BNS license, or SRN) or aides with at least two years of professional experience as a nurse;
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- BSc or BNS, or SRN) or nursing assistant with at least five years of experience as a
nurse;
- At least three years of experience in providing HIV-related services (
counselling and testing services), primarily to military personnel, with convincing results- Certification as an indexing test according to PEPFAR's
minimum requirements
for a safe, ethical and confidential indexing test will be an additional benefit;
- Good counselling skills (good communication,
reporting, active listening, problem solving, empathy, open-mindedness and
self-awareness);
- Ability to communicate in French, English and local languages;
- Ability to establish a solid therapeutic relationship with the client;
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
