MISSIONS
Provide an appropriate approach to assessing the protection situation in a timely manner by assessing the community needs of diverse populations, developing and implementing tailor-made support and care plans and methods based on needs, and ensuring appropriate follow-up while creating a climate of trust and care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a schedule of awareness-raising and training activities, workshops and meetings with communities/stakeholders;
- Collect up-to-date data for database update
- Check and ensure the quality of the data collected
- Organize home and community visits (schools, hospitals, etc.) to identify hygiene deficiencies;
- Participate in the development of modules and educational tools to raise awareness with the Social Cohesion Officer, adapting them to different audiences (songs, role plays, meetings, training);
- Participate in field meetings and write a report,
- Under the direction of the Social Cohesion Officer, participate in the planning as well as the administrative and logistical organization of field interventions;
- Identify local resources that can assist in the preparation and implementation of activities;
- Organize trainings of key actors on protection themes in collaboration with other key actors;
- Organize and facilitate community awareness sessions on identified themes and according to established methodologies;
- Ensure the progress of activities and the impact of awareness sessions, monitoring the application of good practices by communities;
- Throughout the implementation of the project, take into account the problems and risks of protection ("Do not harm") for the population.
- Identify and report to the supervisor statistics related to evaluations, awareness and training sessions;
- Complete and keep tracking tools and archived files at the INTERSOS office, accessible to his/her supervisor;
- Write summary reports of activities and report to the protection officer on the evolution of the activities and specific tasks entrusted to him, the problems encountered, the quality of relations with beneficiaries and the commitment of the community;
- Make proposals for the continuous improvement of the activities he/she implements;
- Throughout the project, ensure the implementation of established project implementation strategies, as well as their ownership by key stakeholders and beneficiaries, providing technical guidance as required;
- Conduct home visits to assess clients' living conditions when necessary
- Refer clients to the appropriate services and, if necessary, accompany them to different service providers
- Provide ongoing basic emotional support and guidance at regular follow-up meetings, establishing a relationship of trust based on confidentiality protocols
- Document cases on the internal case management platform, ensure that any progress in the management plan and any significant changes in the client's psychosocial well-being and overall situation are timely and duly recorded
- Ensure correct and secure filing and archiving of case management files to maintain data confidentiality
- Perform all tasks in accordance with key protection principles, including the principles of Do No Harm, Non-Discrimination, Confidentiality, Accountability and Need to Know
- Participate in internal case management meetings and immediately bring cases with special/urgent needs to the attention of the team leader.
- Ensure good relations and coordination with key service providers in the intervention area to improve the identification of people with specific needs for rapid referral, follow-up and information sharing
- Identify and report gaps in the availability and quality of services provided to clients in targeted areas
- University degree in a related field, e.g. Social sciences, Psychology right or equivalent is an asset
- 01 year of relevant professional experience in the field of protection
- Previous experience with an NGO would be an asset
- Work experience with internally displaced, refugees and expellees (returnees)
- Fluency in French (written and spoken).
- Fluency in English is an asset
- Mastery of the local languages of Logone and Chari (Arabic, Kotoko, Massa Mousgoum)
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, outlook)
- Good leadership, planning and organizational skills
- Solid knowledge of international protection in the humanitarian context
- Solid knowledge of protection in the humanitarian context (case management, psychosocial support activities, etc.)
- Respect and non-discriminatory attitude
- Interpersonal and communication skills with communities
- Strong report writing skills
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team • Flexibility
